Torquay's oldest pub, built around 1540 (some sources say 1450), tucked up an unassuming side street just a few yards from the harbour - cobbled floors and low-beamed ceilings, a reputed regular haunt of "nefarious characters" for centuries, with a nicely decorated restaurant attached serving a proper Sunday roast.
