1. Who we are
WoofSorted is a UK dog-friendly business directory operated personally by Marcus Chaplin from Somerset, England. For the purposes of UK GDPR, the data controller is Marcus Chaplin trading as WoofSorted.
2. What data we collect
- Account information: name, email, password hash, optional profile photo and bio.
- Location data: approximate location you enter or allow your browser to share, used to show nearby places.
- User content: reviews, ratings, photos and business submissions you create.
- Device data: IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited and referrer.
3. Why we collect it and legal basis
- Legitimate interest: operating the directory, preventing abuse, improving the service.
- Consent: analytics cookies, advertising cookies, marketing email.
- Contract: providing your account and the features you sign up for.
4. How long we keep it
- Accounts: while active, plus 2 years after last activity, then deleted.
- Reviews: retained indefinitely unless you request deletion.
- Enquiries and contact form messages: 2 years.
5. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectify inaccurate data.
- Erase your data (the "right to be forgotten").
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
6. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies to keep you logged in and (with consent) to measure traffic and show ads. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.
7. Third parties
- Supabase — hosts our database, authentication and file storage.
- Google Maps — renders maps and geocodes addresses.
- Google Analytics — anonymous traffic measurement (consent-based).
- Google AdSense — contextual advertising (consent-based).
- Resend — sends transactional email such as password resets and enquiry replies.
