About

Standing proudly on wild, remote Bodmin Moor, arguably Cornwall's most famous pub - a Grade II listed coaching inn dating to 1750, once the nerve centre of the county's smuggling trade, immortalised by Daphne du Maurier's gothic 1936 novel of the same name (adapted by Alfred Hitchcock in 1939 and the BBC in 2014) - genuinely home to the only museum in the world dedicated to du Maurier, with authentic letters from the Queen, Prince Philip and Prince Charles on display; part of the Coaching Inn Group, named Which? Hotel Group of the Year and won Best Accommodation Operator at the 2025 Publican Awards.
