Dog policy

Confirmed dog friendly - "the perfect place to warm up with man's best friend after a brisk walk around the Cathedral Close", per Experience Salisbury's own official guide, with roaring fires and a cosy pub area to settle in

About

Salisbury's oldest pub, first recorded in 1320 when it housed craftsmen building Salisbury Cathedral - a rare Grade II* listed pub interior with a pewter-topped bar counter, and genuinely one of Britain's most curious pubs: a mummified severed hand (allegedly from a card cheat caught in the 1820s, stolen in 2004 and now replaced with a replica) sits in a locked bread oven, while local legend holds that Winston Churchill and Dwight Eisenhower met here to plan the D-Day landings in 1944.
