Dog policy
Genuinely, directly confirmed dog friendly - "everyone welcome (including dogs!)", with dog biscuits kept behind the bar; note this applies to the pub itself rather than the six overnight guest rooms above, which do not accept pets
About
A Grade II listed pub with over 700 years of history right in the heart of Exeter city centre next to the historic Guildhall, once a favourite watering hole of Charles Dickens - his character "The Fat Boy" in The Pickwick Papers is said to be modelled on an employee here, now home to its own in-house microbrewery (flagship beer literally named "Fat Boy IPA") and winner of CAMRA's Pub Design Award for its sensitive conversion back from an Italian restaurant chain in 2020.
