Officially, exceptionally dog friendly - most rooms are dog friendly with a comfy bed, towel and small hamper of organic treats for a modest fee, plus a purpose-built outdoor shower for muddy paws; the hotel even has its own resident dog, Cody, available to "borrow" for a walk if you didn't bring your own

A beautifully appointed hotel right on the harbour at Porlock Weir, Exmoor National Park, with a small library corner and lounge, an outstanding restaurant serving fresh local fish and Porlock Bay oysters, and stunning views across the water towards Wales and Dunkery Beacon.
